Anitta Smith, professionally know as Lady Anitta, hails from Fort Smith, Arkansas and was born to Rev. Elphin and Mildred Smith in a household with 12 other siblings. Her parents recognized the musical gift in her at the age of 6 and she began taking piano lessons shortly thereafter and singing solos with the choir at Shiloh Baptist Church where her father pastored.
After leaving home to pursue an education in music, she was granted a full ride to Philander Smith College, Little Rock, Ar in the area of Music Education and English. She has been grooming groups, ensembles, and choirs since the early 80’s and took her first position as Minister of Music at St Mark Baptist Church under the pastorage of Maurice Watson.
Many doors were opened for her to share her gift and ministry. She has served as a worship pastor in the cities of Kansas City, Kansas, Milwaukee, WI, Little Rock, and Fort Smith, Ar and now in Oklahoma City.
Songwriting and arranging has been passion for her, having had the opportunity to do so for the Arkansas Gospel Mass Choir, the late Reverend Gerald Thompson, Greater Faith Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church, The Historic St James Baptist Church, Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), and her own debut CD entitled, Lady Anitta and Friends, produced by Reginald James of NWA’s Music Moves, Inc.
